Many of us think of mountain towns as being primarily winter places, but there are a bunch of hidden gems to go explore during the summer months. And many of these towns are closer to Colorado Springs than you may think.
Woodland Park
Called the “City Above the Clouds,” Woodland Park is the closest mountain town to Colorado Springs. Woodland Park is close to Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and Mueller State Park & Wildlife Area, so there are many beautiful areas to explore outdoors. It also houses the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center.
