Summer in Colorado Springs: Why So Many People Decide to Move Here This Time of Year

Summer in Colorado Springs highlights local lifestyle in a very real way. Maybe it is the longer days that stretch into warm evenings. Maybe it is the way Pikes Peak looks a little more vivid against a clear blue sky. Or maybe it is simply that life slows down just enough for people to notice what is around them.

Whatever it is, summer has a way of helping people not just visit Colorado Springs, but imagine living here.

This is one of the reasons I see more intentional home searches this time of year. Families are out exploring neighborhoods after dinner. Buyers are driving through different parts of town on weekends. People are hiking local trails, grabbing ice cream downtown, attending summer events, and asking themselves, “Could we actually live here?”

And the answer for so many ends up being yes.

Outdoor spaces suddenly matter more. A backyard becomes more than just square footage. It becomes where dinners happen, where kids play, where friends gather after a hike or a long day. Mountain views feel more meaningful when you are sitting outside and actually enjoying them instead of just seeing them in listing photos.

Neighborhoods also feel more alive this time of year. Community pools are full, parks are busy, and there is a natural energy that helps people picture what daily life would look like if they made the move.

Air Force Academy graduation brings in families from all over the country. Local festivals and events showcase the personality of the city. And visitors get to experience something that is hard to capture online, a sense of space, openness, and connection to the outdoors that Colorado Springs is known for.

I also find that summer tends to clarify priorities. Buyers start to notice what they actually want in a home. Maybe it is more space for entertaining. Maybe it is a shorter commute. Maybe it is being closer to trails, schools, or friends. When life is happening outside more often, it becomes easier to define what “home” really needs to feel like.

Because it is one thing to visit.

It is another thing entirely to picture your life here.

And once that picture becomes clear, the decision often follows.

If you are thinking about a move this year, or even just exploring what life in Colorado Springs could look like for you, I am always happy to be a resource as you navigate that process and figure out what makes sense for your next step.
