Colorado Springs continues to prove that its growth is about more than just population. It’s about jobs, investment, and the industries choosing to build their future here.
The latest example? Accu-Precision, a Colorado-based precision manufacturer serving the aerospace and industrial sectors, has selected Colorado Springs for a major expansion that represents more than $68 million in investment and is expected to bring more than 120 new jobs to our community.
The company plans to build a roughly 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in southeast Colorado Springs, near Aerospace Boulevard, Drennan Road and Marksheffel Road. The new positions will include manufacturing technicians, operators, engineers and supervisors, with average annual wages expected to be well above the current El Paso County average.
And while that is exciting news for our local economy, I think there is another piece of this story worth watching:
Colorado Springs real estate.
Jobs Bring People and People Need Homes.
Economic growth and real estate are closely connected.
When a company makes a significant investment in a community and creates well-paying jobs, it doesn't just impact the people hired. Those employees need places to live. They shop locally, support restaurants and businesses, pay taxes and become part of the neighborhoods where they choose to put down roots.
Accu-Precision's expansion is another piece of the larger aerospace and advanced-manufacturing ecosystem that has been developing throughout Colorado Springs, particularly around the southeast side and the airport corridor.
For buyers, that continued employment growth can mean more people entering the local housing market; purchasing their first home, moving up, relocating from another state or looking for something closer to where they work.
For sellers, it is another reason to pay attention to where employment and infrastructure are expanding across our city.
Southeast Colorado Springs Is Worth Watching
The location of this project is particularly interesting.
Southeast Colorado Springs has been experiencing continued investment, and its proximity to Colorado Springs Airport, Peterson Space Force Base and Fort Carson makes it an attractive location for companies that depend on aerospace, defense and a highly skilled workforce.
This isn't about saying one new facility will suddenly change the housing market. Real estate doesn't work that simply.
But when you start stacking new employers, higher-paying jobs, commercial investment and infrastructure improvements on top of an already established employment base, the long-term story becomes much more interesting.
One of the things I love watching about our market is the bigger picture.
Real estate is often discussed in terms of inventory, interest rates, prices and days on market and those things absolutely matter... but jobs matter, too.
People don't move to a city simply because there are homes available. They move because there are opportunities.
Colorado Springs continues to attract investment in aerospace, defense, manufacturing and technology. Accu-Precision is the latest example, with the company citing the area's workforce, location and connection to the aerospace and defense ecosystem as important factors in its decision.
For homeowners, buyers and anyone considering a move to Colorado Springs, these are the developments worth paying attention to.
